Please bookmark our new blog! This blog has been merged into the new blog for archives and we will no longer be posting to it. I've loved typepad for the 3 l/2 years I've been here, but we wanted a more customized look for our branding with larger images for our viewers.

Random!

Just some random stuff to share today---a bit of this and a bit of that!

1. SITES UPDATED. Yes! We've updated our sites for the new year. Check out www.terifode.com. The splash page is new, the Main Site has had a make-over with a new opening slideshow and new photos in galleries and in all menus...the Wedding/Engagement Site is NEW NEW NEW (!!!), and the Commercial Site is so so so so close to going live! Watch for new updates on the Senior Site coming soon soon soon! It's a FRESH new year and we felt like a FRESH new updated look :) I love the fresh-start feel of a fresh new year! So much in store for this year---stay tuned!

2. CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Mark and Gina---I was right. IT'S A GIRL! Can't wait for the newborn baby session coming up soon! Mommy is posted below, next to the last photo. Pink pink pink! Love girlie colors and girlie baby things. (But then, I love boy colors and boy baby things too. Babies babies babies!)

3. THANK YOU and update: to the overwhelming response to the 2008 workshop later in the year...I'm still getting emails weekly and will have to regroup with the larger-than-expected reponse. (For pros only---outside of a 200 mile radius of Sacramento---basics in my post processing, direct sun-lighting techniques and available lighting techniques, modeling and on-location shoots, building a successful photography business. This is NOT a studio lighting class or how-to-use-your camera class). For those that are double-emailing making sure we have your name on the email list, please be assured that if you have received a reponse from our business email saying "Thank you we will respond soon", you are on the list. Info to go out to our mailing list with details in the spring. THANKS AGAIN!

4. INSPIRATION: I get a ton of emails with people/photographers/clients asking me what "inspires me" in my work. I will have to say, first and foremost, my faith and relationship with God. Then, MUSIC! I love music...love listening to it while I'm in post-processing production at the computer. I listen to it in my car on the way to a session. Music sets my mood for a particular type of session I'm doing! I listen to contemporary Christian music, but also love "music that sets a mood" like instrumental music or the music on the website of Jesh Derox (great music to listen to when processing engagement photos!) www.jeshderox.com. Also, colors and textures inspire me in ANYthing like magazines, life, Pottery Barn and Anthropologie (just walking through their stores inspires me---the colors and textures make my head spin).

Sara is joining with Teri Fode Photography in 2008 as the Certified Make-Up Artist/Stylist for our clients! This service will be offered to all clients but in particular will be a fabulous addition to our Ford (and other) modeling and acting clients, High School Seniors, and all clients that desire the professional touch that make-up brings to the perfect portrait.

I'm very excited to have Sara linked to our studio name and have loved getting to know her!

Sara worked as a high-fashion model based out of New York and Washington DC for seven years. She was signed with both the Ford and Elite Modeling Agencies.

Her runway experience has offered her the opportunity to work with some of the best hair, make-up, and fashion designers in the business. She has been featured in publications such as Allure, Glamour, and American Woman Magazine. She has also worked as a spokes model for top companies including Redken, Nioxin, and Jungle Care.

Television appearances include the Ford Supermodel of U.S. Contest, Elite Look of the Year, and Entertainment Tonight. Now as an Independent Marketing Executive, Sara Williams speaks to groups about Networking, Building Your Portfolio, and Personal Care on both the Eats and West Coasts.

She now makes Sacramento her home and I am thrilled to have her as the official Make-Up Artist for our studio.

We have a Ford Modeling session scheduled on Monday and I'll share some photos of her at work during our session together!

This and That...

Some newsworthy notes today...

FIRST:

I would like to SHOUT OUT to all MOMS with DAUGHTERS. Many of you read about it on my blog last year and yes, it's HERE AGAIN!!!

THE REVOLVE TOUR!!!! (CLICK FOR LINK AND INFO)

Yes, Revolve is here in Sacramento again---but if you don't live in Sacramento, they tour the US so check for a city near you! I can't say enough about this awesome event---if you are a mom, and you have a daughter, GO. If you are a young girl, ask, your mom or an aunt or a girlfriend to go with you!

What's it about? REAL LIFE. Girls facing the dilemmas and life challenges in the world today like: pressure to have sex, drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, guys, cutting, peer pressure, living through divorce of your parents, feeling lonely, feeling happy, feeling lost, feeling anything! The pressure to think of "beauty" as the exterior and not realizing that the "heart and inner person" is the true beauty!

Girls: don't hesitate to go with a friend only or a group of girlfriends!

Moms: it's an AMAZING bonding weekend between mom and daughter.

Women: call YOUR friends with daughters and GO!

You don't have to be a religious person to go. It's about LIFE. It's about LOVE. And it's AWESOME. Read about my review on it from last year's blog entry HERE.

SECOND:

To the many photographers around the country that have emailed me recently and in the past few months asking about whether or not I do training and or workshops: the answer is that YES, we are in the process of formulating a workshop towards the END of 2008.

The class agenda will revolve around the many questions I get emailed daily---business development, marketing, post processing, artistic style/questions, session details, natural lighting. While we have not yet specifically outlined or formulated all the details, we are accepting a list of interested photographers for a "mailing list" which will be the list that will receive the details mid next-year and an invitation to sign up.

Please note these requirements that we ask to be respected (and thank you!): This workshop will only be open to those photographers that are not in the area we market to directly. This will be a 300 mile radius, give or take, in any direction (to be considered on an individual basis at time of workshop sign-up). Also, at the time of the workshop you must have a verifiable website and email address (this will be a workshop geared towards professional photographers only).

***CARMEL BEACH SESSIONS: As of today, all Carmel Beach Sessions are filled for the dates August 5 and 6. There is one session that may be cancelling that we will know about for sure by Friday. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email me directly. All people on the list will be emailed by Friday at noon (IF this spot opens up). The first to respond with a paid session fee ($350 for the Carmel Sessions) will receive the time slot (Monday, August 6th at 6:00pm/sunset session in Carmel Village and the beach at Carmel-by-the-Sea).

one year later...

baby b. grows up!

I seriously can't believe it's been one year since my maternity and newborn session with the H. family.

One of the best parts about being a photographer is meeting nice families through word of mouth and referrals...so I get to me everyone's best friends and their best friends and so on and so forth! Everyone likes each other, everyone is friends, everyone loves to share their photos with each other!

This has been one of my favorite families to work with this past year. I loved the maternity session...and I couldn't wait to meet baby B.

And now, one year later, they've become wonderful friends that welcome me into their home to capture wonderful family moments that will last forever.

And I love that Baby B.'s mommy, G., appreciates the fine-art of photography. I LOVE how she has displayed the images I captured this past year on the walls of her home. She has a designer's touch and has beautiful black and white portraits of the maternity and newborn sessions throughout her home.

If *I* can't believe a year has flown by, I'm sure mommy and daddy to baby b. can't either. Seems like just yesterday.

And it goes by fast. My baby turns 14 tomorrow. SERIOUSLY...seems like just a couple of years ago she was toddling around the house and we had baby-gates up. Those baby-gates are loooooooong gone, and now she's a young lady.

*sigh*.

My sister Heidi and I are headed to the New Orleans area for a 3 day INTENSE workshop by 3 of the TOP photographers/instructors in the nation in their field!

Looking forward to spending time with these pros working on various lighting techniques and creative elements!

Yes, my sis is also a pro photograher...in Montana. Check out her site here. I LOVE her site. So fresh, fun and funky. She also has a design-studio in the works...creating specialty product-designs for pro photographers.

Wouldn't my grandparents, who owned a professional studio for 45 years in Chico, CA, be amazed that their 2 grandaughters grew up with the same passion for photography? ;)

I love color. Especially when it jumps out at you and you don't have to work too hard to create a bold statement with it.
