"What if the trials of this life---the rain, the storms, the hardest nights---are Your mercies, in disguise?" -from song lyrics "Blessings" by Laura Story.
Someone I love very, very much has had one trial in her life after another. The pain she has endured has been deep and my heart aches for her, as if I have experienced this pain myself (though I know it can't compare to her own pain in actually living through it).
Her trials include the loss of her marriage through adultery and the loss of her mother, all in the same year, not to mention other painful experiences and revelations along the way.
We've all experienced deep loss and disappointment in our lives---I know I have. Life is full of mountains and valleys, and the valleys seem to be so deep at certain points. Through it all, we are called to be faithful and rely on God and His wisdom.
But...sometimes it's hard. Sometimes God's voice is silent. Sometimes we just don't think we can bear another day of life in it's present form. As Christians, we are told to march on as a soldier for Christ, strong and faithful in our commitment to Him.
And...it's true. We need to. It's...our only hope in this life.
I've written much on this little blog about faith. It's the life-blood of our relationship with God. And the thing is, we won't always "FEEL" God's presence in our lives, so that's why FAITH is so very, very important. Faith is BELIEVING without SEEING.
The good news is that no matter the trial in our lives today, we can rest assured that this is only a SEASON. And in the wisdom of Solomon's words, there is a season for EVERYTHING in life: "...a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance...".
Just know, my sweet, sweet loved one, that there will once again be a time to laugh and dance because this is ONLY a season in your life.
This video shares the song "Blessings"...SO BEAUTIFUL.
"'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near?
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?"
