A tear jerker...
There's a song written and sung by the great Stephen Curtis Chapman that tugs at my heart every single time I hear it. (NOTE: To hear the song, click on above link and then go to "play video" next to the Cinderella note...words typed out below on this post).
It reminds me of my own daughter...and her very precious and special relationship with her Daddy. One that I've never had myself...and yet God is so great and glorious to let me see what one looks like here on earth. While I never had this myself, I am blessed to see one of the most beautiful human relationships unfold before my very eyes.
A father is a young girls biggest role model in shaping her heart for a husband. He is very influential in her life on many levels. And I'm so very thankful to see what this role model looks like in the life of my own daughter. She's so very blessed. And so am I to witness it.
Someday, very soon, this entire song will be played out in our own lives. She's growing so fast. Too fast. And this song is so close to my own husband's heart.
You can hear it in it's entirety by clicking the above link, and then clicking on "Cinderella". It will lead you to a little box you can navigate to hear the song.
Here are the lyrics in full:
She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders
It's been a long day
And there's still work to do
She's pulling at me
Saying "Dad, I need you
There's a ball at the castle
And I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone...
She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She will be gone
Well, she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowing and telling us all they had planned
She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
But I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

This is one of my very favorite songs!!! I just bought tickets to his Atlanta concert coming up in october! WhooHoo!!!
